Floor To Ceiling Board And Batten

Annie with @Zevyjoy has been a long time advocate of our Ambrosia Maple Beams, and has brought them into almost ever single room in her home. She still has one room to go - but she had a few other plans in mind before tackling that project. She wanted to first spruce up her plain white walls with a decorative board and batten look.

Knowing that Ornamental Moulding is a part of a larger brand of companies, Annie reached out to us for assistance. We were able to recommend top notch boards from Empire Moulding and Millwork, and she quickly got to work. Check out how she accomplished this project below.

The Plan

Ever since Annie moved in to her new home, she had design dreams of installing floor to ceiling board and batten. With the idea already being in her head, she easily laid out the plan on paper and was able to calculate just how many boards she would need.

“We used Novo Building Products amazing boards. We chose 1 in. x 6 in. x 16 ft. square edge primed pine boards for the baseboards/molding and then their 1 in.x 2 in. x 8 ft.square edge primed pine boards for the battens. These materials are high quality and easy to work with!”

“We started out by installing the 1 in. x 6 in. x 16 ft. square edge primed pine boards on both the top near the ceiling and at the bottom of the wall near the floor. We used 45 degree angle cuts in the corners and adjoining seams.”

Finished Space

Once all of the products were in place, they got to work painting the space the same white as the walls, and the finished product is stunning. The board and batten added beautiful texture to the space, and gave her that modern coastal vibe that she was going for.

“This room has come a long way from when we moved in last year… But the decision to add floor to ceiling batten really elevated the design! It feels like there is so much character and I am always amazed at how finish work like this can make a huge impact without needing to do major renovations.”
